Competition: closing of registrations

After a record of 220 candidates registered in the first 24 hours, registrations for the 57th International Competition for Young Conductors are now closed, the quota of 250 places having been reached.
After Paris, Berlin and Besançon in 24 hours, followed by Montreal a few days later, the last places for Beijing left on Friday 5 February 2021, 5 days before the announced deadline.

Faced with this unexpected craze in this period of pandemic, we opened a waiting list on which nearly 100 candidates registered before it was closed.
An additional half-day of pre-selections could be opened in Paris, allowing the passage of fifteen new candidates.

Preliminary rounds are scheduled to start in Germany in mid-April, followed by Paris, Beijing, Montreal and finally Besançon (early May).
The organization of the Competition remains subject to the evolution of the pandemic and to the regulations of each partner country for the preliminary rounds (closed borders, limited activity or closed conservatories, sanitary constraints…)

If necessary, we are considering possible partial postponements, until the end of June at the latest, or live videoconference sessions for certain cities which would not be accessible without quarantine, both for the candidates and the jury.
A selection with videos sent by the candidates remains excluded.

In case of total cancellation of the Competition before the preliminary rounds or if candidates are unable to travel due to pandemic-related travel restrictions, the registration fees will be refunded.
