Proust Questionnaire [revisited] by Régis Campo

Régis Campo, composer in residence at the Festival since September 2024, took part in Proust’s [revisited] questionnaire.

It’s an original way to discover the composer and enter his artistic universe.

    I’m sometimes my heads in the clouds
  • My favourite fictional heroes?
    Inspector Columbo but especially the character Schlitzie in the film Freaks for his humanity
  • My favourite thing to do?
    Imagining or dreaming things that don’t exist
  • The first record I bought?
    Vinyls: several Shostakovich symphonies (the 1st and 8th in particular) by the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra and Bernard Haitink.
  • The concert/book/film that changed my life?
    2001: A Space Odyssey
  • My favourite way of listening to music?
    Live concerts, of course
  • The composer who inspires me?
    Beethoven, more and more
  • A work I would have liked to have created?
    Mozart’s 21st Piano Concerto in C.
  • The city where I feel at home?
    Marseille
  • My favourite place to create?
    Anywhere
  • My favourite painter?
    Salvador Dalí, and for the living painters Hervé Di Rosa in particular.
  • My greatest artistic encounter?
    Ennio Morricone, Vladimir Cosma and Henri Dutilleux.
  • Which of my creations/works represents me the most? Why or why not?
    Zoo Circus, Street-Art, ‘Pagamania!’, The Wonder of Life or Dancefloor With Pulsing: each time a kind of madness and a strong connection with the audience and the performers.
  • What do I dream of doing in Besançon?
    Multiple meetings with the inhabitants and music lovers of Besançon, with the students and teachers of its Conservatory
