The start is given !

The selection rounds of the 58th Young Conductors’ Competition started on April 14 in Berlin at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music.

More than 60 candidates were auditioned during these first three days of selection rounds : they conducted two pianists (David Berdery and Paul Montag) in front of two members of the jury, Yulia Kopylova (violin second concertmaster) and Jacques Mercier (conductor).

The selection rounds will continue in Paris on April 18, 19 and 20, in Tokyo on April 23 and 24, then in Besançon on April 27 and 28 and finally in Montreal on May 2 and 3.

A test for the candidates but also for the members of the jury who will have auditioned more than 270 candidates during 12 days and more than 46 hours of auditions. At the beginning of May, we will know the names of the 20 candidates selected for the final rounds with orchestra which will take place during the 76th Music Festival in Besançon.
