IMPORTANT: jury chairman of the 56th Competition forced to give up the preliminary rounds

Yan Pascal Tortelier, suffering, can not take part, as he intended, to the preliminaries of the 56th Competition which start this April 15 in Berlin, and continue in Beijing, Montreal and Besançon. He was supposed to conduct three concerts in Washington this week, and must remain there a few days to rest.

The Argentinian chief Jorge Rotter, who had made these preselections in 2015 and 2017, has accepted at the last minute to sit alongside Catherine Larsen-Maguire as the jury of the 2019 auditions. Together they will make a first selection, which will be finalized together with the president of the jury Yan Pascal Tortelier, after watching videos and deliberation.

The Competition Management has made every effort to maintain the usual conditions reserved for the candidates, based on live auditions and a perfect equal opportunity (same artists and same jury for the 270 candidates). It presents all its best wishes of health recovery to Yan Pascal Tortelier.
